9 months and counting, Insha'Allah.

Khairaldin turn 9 months today!! Time flies when he's already out of the womb but when he was in the womb, 9 months felt...... ages! :) He's now got his 2 lower central incisor teeth!!! We were expecting him to start teething when he's one, since the whole family started teething after 1 year old. But not him. Hehe

Anyway, THREE months time, it'll be his FIRST birthday, Insha'Allah!!!! At this point of time, I'm really glad that we are living in the UK, where birthday party is NOT like a wedding celebration. Also, family & friends are very limited so we don't have to spend loadsssss on his first birthday. I'm not planning to do a grand party as it's only his first. He won't remember that much/anything on the day. I wouldn't wanna waste people's money by buying him gifts that he won't appreciate. I can imagine him playing with the wrapping papers and boxes rather than the toys! So it will only be a family only party as obviously he doesn't have any friends. Khairaldin is also not very friendly if he sees unfamiliar faces. So I'd rather him have fun than hanging onto me all day long! Inviting strangers will only make him agitated, so what's the point. Alhamdulillah his birthday is during Summer which means, BBQ party! The kids can make a mess outdoor rather than indoor!!! Hehehe

How do you Malaysian parents keep up with the 'competition' in Malaysia or precisely, KL? I've seen friends celebrating their child's birthday like as though it's a wedding celebration. Isn't birthday about celebrating the memories of giving birth a year ago? To me, quiet family time is the best way to go. Until Khairaldin have his own friends, his birthday will only be celebrated within very very close family + friends. As he grows up, his birthday parties will be strictly amongst his friends or how he wants it to be since he's spend that much time with family when he was younger. Hehehe But saying that, I'm only gonna do parties during special years, not every year. :)

PS: Need to write often as my grammar is going haywire :S

We celebrated Ari's 1st birthday with immediate family only, at a restaurant (Naeb) close to home pulak tu. hehe. Nak save habis :P
Also, you know, I don't even understand the whole thing. He just stared at everyone when we sing the birthday song. Of course I yg tiup lilin. hahahahah.
Anyway, I loike 'private' parties :)
So.. yay to your BBQ party!! :D
- I think your grammar is fine :).. sikit2 tu.. biasa la. the fingers are ussually faster than the brain.
But yeah, agree on the need to keep on writing!
(I've been writing in my head.. perhaps I should just have a blog already)

I think you're missing the point of a birthday party...to us it's to celebrate friends and family...just so happens we have more friends and more family in Malaysia than you guys do in the UK...

PLUS...we have bigger space to celebrate...it doesn't matter if the baby doesn't remember...it matters that at a time when everyone is happy the baby was there...a memory you will keep forever...

I remember having delicious cupcakes and a chocolate fountain and so much good food and having all MY friends over on Dian's birthday...all my friend's are Dian's Uncles...

And you have to look at the presents differently...if your friends are really good friends...they won't mind paying for a child's gift when they're getting so much free food...

I personally don't mind spending the money if it means i'll see more of my friends and family...'cos they mean that much to me...

Iskandar, that's my point exactly. I don't wanna waste money doing party over here because we haven't got any close-knit- family & friends. Like I said, if we were to do a party it will be for very very close family & friends (this includes Shazwan and my friends). Dian's party was a party and not wedding like celebration. So yeah. I was talking about those wedding like birthday parties. That would be a waste of money.

But yes, if we were in Malaysia, it will be only with very verty close family and friends. And it's still considered as 'private' party. Also if we're in Malaysia, Khairaldin will definitely think that his Mommy & Abah's friends are his uncles and aunties so he won't be clinging onto me. Unlike now, when he see strangers he doesn't wanna let go of us. That's definitely not fun for him or for us. Hahaha

As for the presents, I'd rather my family and friends come empty handed and empty stomach. Hahaha they can enjoy the food but we done expect anything in return. Again, it's all about having fun! ;)

But again...what you think is a waste of money is all relative...if they've got the money...why not? They like wedding-like birthday parties...

A bit like you wasting money on designer diapers when you can get a plain jane one...
